Frequently asked questions
What is inside a Found & Made box?
Every box is themed and filled with goods from independent Los Angeles makers. The Coffee Box, our first prototype, carries single origin beans, a handmade ceramic mug and saucer, a cotton tee, a cap, an insulated tumbler, a sticker and card set, and a small batch chocolate bar. Contents shift by theme, but the goal stays the same: real products from real people in your own city.
How does sourcing work?
We partner directly with local makers and shops. Each item is chosen by hand, picked up in person, and packed into a box that is folded and finished by hand. We lean toward independent businesses and away from mass market goods, so the box stays a showcase of the people who make things here.
When do orders close and when do boxes ship?
We run on a weekly rhythm. Orders open online through Thursday and close Thursday at midnight. Friday, pick lists go out to each maker. Saturday, we pick up product and assemble the boxes by hand. Sunday, boxes go out. Early on we hand deliver within a tight Los Angeles radius to keep everything in good shape.
How does the charity split work?
A share of every box is set aside for good and split evenly across three local partners: Heal the Bay, TreePeople, and the LA Regional Food Bank. We keep the framing directional rather than exact while partnerships are being finalized, so you will always see honest language about what a box is modeled to support.
Can I return a box?
Because boxes are assembled by hand and can include perishable goods, returns work a little differently than a standard store. If something arrives damaged or not right, email us and we will make it right. Reach out at foundandmadela@gmail.com and we will take care of you.
I own a Los Angeles business. How do I apply to be a vendor?
We would love to hear from you. The model is simple: you sell to us slightly above your cost, and in return you get exposure and new customers who often come back and buy from you directly. Head to the Partner With Us page and tell us your business name, what you make, and your neighborhood.
